Let There Be Light
The brief was one we’re used to – create a modern and sophisticated interior with timeless appeal.
Underpinning everything is a sense of restraint and refinement. The design of each room is focused on its relationship to the central internal garden glass windows (spanning two floors high). Surrounding the multi-level void are custom black-steel pivot windows, providing almost uninterrupted views to the internal bamboo growing within the garden.
Minimalist colour and material palettes were chosen with an emphasis placed on Marble, charred timber, nickel, steel, aged bronze, plaster all working together in beautiful harmony.
Modern Contemporary
Located in the Melbourne suburb of Templestowe, CDQ Residence does not shy away from large proportion and scale. Working alongside Melbourne architects MOS, Studio Del Castillo were engaged to curate the furnishings, decorative lighting, art and objects with the overall approach to create a timeless holistic aesthetic.
We wanted to bring textures and ambient glow into the spaces, introducing various interesting organic shapes and materials. Colours and textures were charged with the same task, so we selected monochramatic colours from dark navy and charcoal to warm hues such as forest green, and chose hand knotted woolen rugs, woollen blankets, boucle upholstery and cotton velvet to provide the tactile warmth that was required.

Breathtaking
The breathtaking focal point is a striking central internal garden, sweeping upwards in one fluid movement, capturing a harmonious blend of nature and modern design . Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow an abundance of natural light to flood the space, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Bamboo greenery thrives in the garden, adding a touch of tranquility and beauty to every level in the home.
