Wanaka Oakridge Resort

Enjoying a stunning mountain backdrop and nestled into the outskirts of the beautiful resort village of Wanaka, is the scenic Oakridge Resort. In Design International, when asked to develop concepts for the new interiors, were inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds this location in the South Island of New Zealand.

When embarking on a refurbishment, we prefer to work with an architects’ design intent, rather than resisting it. At the time of IDI’s involvement, there were external works in the public areas of the resort that caught our attention. Our concept for the new interiors was thus driven by these factors, and the immediate landscape.

We specified textured fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, and artifacts to establish ambience and authenticity. The general look and feel is contemporary, with black metal and timber furnishings, and a slight reference to chalet-style in the accessories.
