Having already worked on the Grand Mercure Flinders Lane major refurbishment in 2011 for Accor Vacation Club, the IN DESIGN INTERNATIONAL design team were delighted to be invited back for the next round of renovations with the hotel rebranding to Sebel Flinders Lane in 2016.  In the transformation, IDI tackled several previously untouched areas from the 2011 overhaul.  This time the hotel was ready for upgrades to the reception, AVC sales deck, Kids Club, courtyard, and a newly created honeymoon suite.

Our client’s brief was to create a ‘home away from home’ ambience for the members and guests,  review and reconfigure existing spaces within the heritage-listed building, ensuring that the layout of the spaces generated increased revenue and a better bottom line for the client. Keywords for this project were ‘Classic’, ‘Sophisticated’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Nostalgia’, ‘Old-World Charm’ and ‘Elegance’, with the interior design tailored to reflect the location in Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

There is an immediate sense of nostalgia upon arrival, with the interior featuring decorative custom-made wrought iron wall panels behind the bank teller-style reception stations, rich metallic wallpaper, along with polished brass pendant lights & accessories, deep buttoned plush velvet upholstery and a custom design wall to wall carpet, helping to deliver the best outcomes for the hotel.
