Chic Connection

Once a back-of-house thoroughfare that was used as a drop-off point, the new alfresco setting has been created to make use of the space between the Ibis and Mercure hotels in Brisbane. The open-air-styled venue is convenient to passers-by, with appeal created by greenery and bamboo planting, to ensure a relaxed environment for event goers to enjoy.

Studio del Castillo designed custom industrial-styled features using rusted metal & timber to add personality to the driveway. The rusted lightboard letters illuminate the wall with an element of fun, the honeycomb trellis is complete with climbing vines and garden beds have been reinvigorated with lush plantings. Timber bench seats were an important practical aspect for the everyday breakout opportunities from conferencing in the adjacent hotel ballroom.

General Manager of Mercure Brisbane, Grant Parnell said: “We’re delighted to include this chic addition to our function spaces to complement our existing ballroom and provide a larger more energised, ambient and youthful space. We are expecting this to be popular with millennials looking for a unique hip outdoor setting entertainment venue”
